Grow local is the buzz word in the food scene right now. But do the carbon, water and eco footprints of locally produced food actually stack up against seasonally produced food from elsewhere? Are the much touted local benefits of small scale economies having measurable impacts are farm viability? Are in vogue foods really delivering the right balance of nutrient in take across food groups?

This is a space to separate facts from fiction, to explore whether the science wants to follow where our hearts and mouth tells us to go.
