John Tully is an activist with the Melbourne-based solidarity organisation Australians for Kurdistan, which was formed in late 2014 during the siege of Kobanî. A published writer and historian, Tully is an honorary professor in the College of Arts and Education at Victoria University, where he taught for many years before his retirement in 2015. Earlier, he was active in the campaign against the Vietnam War, in the anti-apartheid movement, and in solidarity with East Timor.
