The Participatory Budget Group (PBG) ensures that NENA’s financial decision-making is transparent, equitable, and consistent with cooperative principles. It enables members to have a meaningful voice in how NENA’s resources are managed and allocated, fostering trust and accountability within the cooperative.
Responsibilities
The PBG’s core responsibilities include:
Reviewing and recommending annual and project budgets to the Board;
Overseeing participatory budgeting processes that allow members to propose and prioritise spending initiatives;
Ensuring transparency in financial reporting and communication;
Supporting the Coordinating Hub with funding proposals and expenditure tracking; and
Providing input into financial risk management and sustainability planning.
How It Works
The PBG works closely with the Board and Coordinating Hub to ensure that all financial decisions reflect NENA’s cooperative values and strategic priorities. Budgets and financial reports are shared with members, and spending proposals are assessed through open, participatory processes where members can contribute ideas and vote on funding priorities.
This participatory approach ensures that NENA’s resources are used effectively, responsibly, and in ways that reflect the shared goals of its members.
